SUBJECT: Town Employee Appreciation
On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, the Gilford Board of Selectmen adopted a couple of proclamations (see attached) in order to recognize two specific groups of public safety employees.
First up on their agenda during their regular monthly meeting, the Board proclaimed the week of May 17-23 as National Public Works Week in recognition of the contributions that public works employees make every day to our health, safety, comfort and quality of life. It was noted the year 2020 marks the 60th annual National Public Works Week as sponsored by the American Public Works Association to acknowledge some of the key contributions made by Gilford’s public works employees in the care and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, sewer, solid waste, recycling, buildings and grounds, cemeteries and Town vehicles.
Next up the Board proclaimed the week of May 10-16 as Law Enforcement Memorial Week to honor all federal, state and municipal law enforcement officials who have been killed or disabled in the line of duty. As part of this acknowledgement, the Gilford Selectmen expressed their thanks to the Gilford Police Department law enforcement officers for their unyielding dedication and heroism.
Towards the end of the meeting the Board approved the acceptance of a $50 gift certificate that was donated to the staff of the Town Clerk – Tax Collector’s Office by a citizen who appreciated the service he received at Town Hall. The Selectmen once again acknowledged the dedication of this group of Town employees and the generosity of the donor.
The underlying theme to these events is the Town of Gilford is very fortunate to have outstanding employees who consistently provide exemplary levels of customer service for the benefit of our residents, even during the challenges of a deadly, world-wide pandemic.
