SUBJECT:        Memorial Day Observances

It is with deep regret that the Gilford Board of Selectmen announce the cancelation of the 2020 Memorial Day Parade.  This is due to the coronavirus pandemic virus state of emergency, and in keeping with the current orders of the Governor of the State of New Hampshire and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention.

In lieu of any official ceremonies, the Board of Selectmen will be taking steps to honor our nation’s fallen war heroes by laying wreaths at the Town’s World War I & II Memorial on Potter Hill Road at 10am on Monday, May 25, to be followed by another wreath laying at the Armed Forces Memorial in Pinegrove Cemetery.

Prayers and the playing of taps will also be part of these observances, but this year there will be no bands, speeches or organized marching.

The public is invited to attend these events, but it is requested that social distancing protocols be observed at all times.
