Due to the high cost of processing trash and in an effort to reduce the waste going to the incinerator, the Town of Gilford is now accepting residential separated recyclables and household trash for free at the Gilford Recycle Center at 100 Recycle Way, Gilford NH.  All commercial haulers will still use the Laconia Transfer Station.

Gilford’s household trash is compacted and then hauled to the Penacook Incinerator which is shared by 25 communities. Due to the rural nature of Gilford there is no publicly sponsored curb-side collection. Any cost that homeowners may incur in contracting to have their garbage picked up and transported to the Laconia Transfer Station is in addition to the above cost that is shared in all our taxes.

By separating clean recyclables at the Gilford Recycle Center, the Town can bale and sell these thereby saving tax payer dollars.  Keeping your recyclables clean and following the new rules helps to reduce contamination in the bales as well.  Other ways that you can help reduce your household trash is to begin a back yard composting effort.  If you need assistance on this please contact us at recycle@gilfordnh.org

Please help by reducing your yearly trash output.  It is estimated that each person produces about a ton of waste each year.  Do your part in helping to keep the Town’s costs down in this area.

Call the DPW office (603)527-4778 or the Gilford Recycle Center (603) 293-0220 with any questions or concerns you may have.
