Fishing Derby Rules
Fishing derby starts promptly at 9:15 AM and ends at 12:15 PM. No fish caught before or after these times will be entered in the derby. We respectfully request that no one participating in the derby begins until the above time.
All participants must be fifteen years of age or under and accompanied by a parent or adult.
All participants will be required to check in upon arrival to the derby to receive their t-shirt and goody bag.
All participants must wear the derby t-shirt given to them by the association upon check in the morning of the derby.
The assistance of young anglers by parents or adults is allowed, however parents cannot fish for their children and children must be actively involved in the catching of all fish.
Only one fishing line per participant will be allowed to be qualified for prizes in the derby.
All anglers must fish from the shoreline. Boats, rafts, floatation devices, or waders will not be allowed during contest times.
All participants must adhere to the NH Fish and Game Rules and Regulations pertaining to fishing in ponds. Please Remember there is a 5 fish or 5 lb limit.
All fish being entered into the contest will be taken by the judges and tagged. All fish will be returned to the anglers who caught them immediately following the derby. Any fish not claimed will be donated to the Squam Lakes Science Center for the feeding of their animals.
If you have a question about a rule or law please ask one of the many officers or staff that will be on hand.
Please try and be respectful and courteous to other anglers and give as much room between yourselves and others as possible. Remember there will be plenty of fish and we are all here to have fun.
All fish entered in contest will be judged in the following order. 1st, weight. If a tie in weight occurs length will be the deciding factor, and if needed time caught. 2nd, Time. Time caught will be determined by judge entering fish so remember to get fish to the judges table as soon as fish are caught.
There will be no Alcoholic beverages allowed at the contest and this will be grounds for immediate disqualification and fines pertaining to open containers under Gilford Town Ordinance.
All decisions by judges are final. Any arguments or disagreements will be immediate grounds for disqualification.
Parents and or adults entering children into the fishing derby are responsible for any and all actions by their children. Parents assume all liability for any and all accidents or injuries that may occur. The Gilford Police Department, the Gilford Police Relief Association, the Town of Gilford, the Gunstock Recreation area and the County of Belknap Commissioners that regulates Gunstock to include any of their employees or designees assisting during the derby are not liable for any and all injuries or accidents incurred while at the derby.
