  • Halloween Happening Party

    On Friday, October 24th from 5:30 – 7:30 PM, all Gilford Children in Grade 6 and younger are invited to attend our annual Halloween Happening Party at the Gilford Middle School.  Children will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of Halloween themed games and activities, including craft activities in the cafeteria, our costume contest, and the Halloween Jail!  All children who attend are eligible to win great door prizes in our annual Monster Mash Raffle.


    Volunteers are always needed and welcomed.  If you are interested in volunteering, please call the Parks and Recreation Office at 527-4722.

     

    * The Gilford Police Department has set Trick-or-Treating in Gilford for

    Friday, October 31st from 4:30 PM – 8:00 PM.*

  • Youth Basketball

    Our Youth Basketball Program is open to Gilford children in grades 1-6.

    Key Info:

    • Cost: $25.00/player or $35.00/family by November 9th, $35.00/player or $45.00/family after November 9th
    • Registration Night will be held in the Gilford Parks and Recreation Office on Wednesday, October 29th from 5:30-7:00pm
    • Mandatory Coaches Meeting and Referee Clinic will be held on Wednesday, November 5th from 6-8pm at the Gilford Elementary School
    • Player Clinic Team Selection Nights (Gr. 3-6): Girls on Wednesday, November 12th, Boys on Friday, November 14th
    • Registration Deadline for all Players in Nov. 12th.  Any registration submitted after this date will be accepted on an availability basis only.
    • Mandatory Coach Smart NH Coaches training will held on Monday, November 17th at 5:30pm

  • Gunstock Ski and Snowboard Program

    6-week Ski and Snowboard Program for Gilford children in grades K-6 which runs every Tuesday evening from January 6 - February 10, 2015

    Key Info
    • Registration Deadline is November 15, 2014!
    • Program runs from 4:30 p.m. - 8:15 p.m. each evening.
    • Participants should check-in with the group leader in the Stone Basement room on the bottom level of the lodge.
    • Participants in grades K-2 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone who is prepared to go onto the ski hill with them.
    • All participants must stay with their group throughout the evening.
    • All Participants must check out with the group leader before departing at the end of the evening.

    Be sure to read the Ski or Snowboard Lesson Level Description to ensure that register your child for the correct lesson level.


  • Celtics Bus Trip

    We will be taking a family bus trip to Boston to watch the Celtics take on the Chicago Bulls on Friday, January 16, 2015.

    • Bus Departs from the Gilford High School at 5:00 p.m.
    • Game Time is Scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
    • Anticipated Time of Return is 12:00 a.m.
    • Cost: $123.00 for Lower Level Loge seating or $93.00 Upper Level Balcony Seating

  • Adult Coed Volleyball

    A fun pick-up volleyball program for adults age 18+ of all abilities.


    Key Information

    • Tuesday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the Gilford Middle School Gym.
    • Program runs from Sept. 30, 2014 - May 19, 2015 (program will not run during certain days that the gym is unavailable - holidays, school functions, town voting, etc.)
    • Cost: $2.00/per day

  • Senior Moment-um Program

    Senior Moment-um is an active senior adult program that meets regularly on Mondays. This program is open to residents of Gilford and the surrounding communities


    Please RSVP to the Gilford Parks and Recreation Department by the date specified, by calling the office at 527-4722.   All RSVP’s must go thru the office and not email.!



    November 3- Lunch Date at Fratello's Restaurant

    Please join us for the start of a tasty new program.  We will visit locally owned and operated Fratello's Restaurant in Laconia.  Join us there for a delicious lunch date at 11:30 am on Monday, November 3. Please RSVP by Friday 10/31 to the Parks and Recreation office by calling 527-4722.   Each participant is responsible for their own lunch cost.

      The menu will include:

    Starter choice of soup or garden salad

    Entrée choice of baked haddock or chicken parmesan

    Dessert choice of chocolate cake or ice cream

    Beverage choice of coffee, tea or soft drink

    *Alcohol Extra

    All for the very reasonable price of $19 which includes tax and gratuity!!

    November 13- GHS Dinner and Show ~ Must RSVP by Nov. 7 (limited space)

    Gilford High School Cafeteria and Auditorium

    Please join us for the Gilford High School Performing Arts presentation of “West Side Story”. Dinner, provided and served by the Gilford High School Interact Club, is at 5 pm in the Gilford High School Cafeteria with the show immediately following at a 6 pm show time.  RSVP’s are mandatory, so please RSVP by Nov. 7th.  Space is limited!  There is NO COST for this program.


    November 17- Breakfast and a Movie

    We will meet at the Community Church, Fellowship Hall at 9 am for breakfast and a movie!  We will be watching ‘Planes, Trains and Automobiles.’  A funny Thanksgiving movie starring Steve Martin and John Candy.  The movie and coffee are FREE of charge.  We will also have breakfast available at $2 per person which includes eggs made to order, bacon and toast.  Please make sure to RSVP for breakfast by 11/14.

     

    November 24- ‘Apples to Apples’ Game Day

    Let’s try this again!  We will meet at the Community Church, Fellowship Hall at 12 noon for an afternoon of game playing.  In honor of fall we will be playing the game ‘Apples to Apples.’  This is a game sure to entertain and humor you.  Bring your lunch and join us for an afternoon of fun and laughter.  Please RSVP by 11/21.


    December 1- Christmas Tree Shop

    Anybody care to join us for a trip to the Christmas Tree Shop in Portsmouth for some Christmas shopping?  We will meet in the town hall lobby at 8:15 am for an 8:30 am departure.  We will spend some time shopping and hit Panera Bread for lunch on the way back.  We will plan to be back by 3 pm.  Participants are responsible for their own lunch and shopping costs.  Please let us know if you are able to drive or need a ride.  Please RSVP by 11/24 to guarantee a carpool.


    December 8- Breakfast and a Movie

    We will meet at the Gilford Community Church, Fellowship Hall at 9 am for coffee and a movie!  Come and get in the Christmas Spirit.  We will be watching my personal favorite ‘Elf.’ The movie and coffee are FREE of charge.  We will also have breakfast available for anyone interested at $2 per person which includes French toast and fruit.  So please join us to watch this new Christmas classic!  Please make sure to RSVP if you will be having breakfast.

     

    December 8- Christmas Garlands

    Join us at 12 noon at the Gilford Community Church, Fellowship Hall as we get into the Christmas spirit! We will be stringing popcorn and cranberry garlands for the Village Candlelight Stroll.  Bring your bagged lunch and we will provide the supplies, music and the Christmas cheer!! 

     

    December 15- Senior Holiday Luncheon

    Join us at the Gilford Community Church, Fellowship Hall at 12:30 pm for a holiday luncheon.  We will supply a ham dinner with the fixings.  The fourth grade chorus from GES will be coming over to perform holiday music.  There is NO COST for this program but participants must RSVP by Thursday, December 11.

  • Adult Fall Hiking Program

    The Gilford Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a series of Tuesday fall hikes for any adults looking to get out enjoy the great outdoors. 

     

     

    Hike Cost: $1 per person/per hike

     

    Suggested Itinerary (estimated) round trip hiking distance listed):


    September 16 – Winnipesaukee River Trail, Tilton  6.4 miles


    September 23 – Ramblin' Vewe Farm, Gilford  2 miles


    September 30 - Locke's Hill, Gilford   2 miles


    October 7 – West Rattlesnake, Holderness   2 miles 


    October 14 - Waukewan Highlands Park, Meredith  1.5 miles  

     

    Additional hikes may be added as weather allows

     

    We will meet at the Gilford Town Hall at 9:00 AM to sign waivers and car pool to our destinations.  Please bring water and snack for each hike.  Remember to wear proper footwear and dress in layers.  Please RSVP to the Gilford Parks and Recreation office at least one day in advance of each trip so you can be notified of any cancellations.

    Thank You to everyone who helped to make our 2014 Old Home Day Celebration such as success!  Our 2015 Old Home Day has been set for Saturday, August 29th, 2015.
