  • Flashlight Egg Hunt

    Children will have the chance to search for eggs in the dark using their flashlight.  A number of eggs will include special prizes or prize tickets!

    When: Friday, April 3
    Time: Check-in at 7:25pm
    Where: Gilford Elementary School (Check-in in the cafeteria, egg hunt outdoors once it gets dark)
    Age Groups: Kindergarten and under, Grades 1-2 and Grades 3-4
    Cost: Free

    Children should dress appropriately for the weather and conditions!

  • Breakfast with the Easter Bunny

    This is an event co-sponsored with the Gilford Youth Center where families can join us for a friendly pancake breakfast where children will have a chance to meet and have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny!  Additional activities include door prizes and a coloring contest!

    When: Saturday, April 4 from 8:00-10:00am
    Where: Gilford Community Church-Fellowship Hall
    Cost: $3:00 per child
             $5:00 per adult

  • LEtGO Your Mind Summer Camp

    A fun week long camp where children will learn about robotics through the fun of LEGO!

    June 22-26 in the Gilford Middle School (9:00am - 3:00pm)


    Course Descriptions

    Amusement Park Thrill Rides & Stop Animation Ages: 6-9 $310

    Channel your inner Master Builder and create your very own LEGO amusement park thrill rides where everything is awesome!  Build some amazing amusement park thrill rides with motors and gears.  Students will build: Merry Go Rounds, Tea Cups Rides, Tilt A Whirl, motorized LEGO cars and many more.  During the afternoon create your very own LEGO Stop Animations, just like The Lego Movie!  Double Decker couches welcome.

    Minecraft / Redstone Circuits, Robotics & Stop Motion Animation: Ages 9-13  $310

    3D Game Design students will utilize various Minecraft skills to customize and create their own legendary worlds!  Students will learn about creating electrical circuits using Redstone.  This will help students create features like functioning doors and trap doors that operate at the push of a button.  Throughout the week students will build LEGO: Zombies, Creepers, Steve, Enderman and a LEGO city integrating electricity with their LEGO structures, then program their robots through the Minecraft maze.  During the afternoon students will create LEGO motorized cars and stop animation videos.  Students are encouraged to work in partners or may BTOD.

  • Shooters Gold Basketball Camp

    Shooter's Gold is a week-long basketball camp run under the direction of Coach Paul Hogan.  The camp will focus on the fundamentals of basketball including proper shooting form, post moves and how to play the game.

    Camp will be held in the Gilford Middle School from July 6-10, 2015

    Session I  8:00-10:00am for children entering grades 1-4
    Session II 8:00am-12:10pm for children entering grades 5-8

  • Challenger British Soccer Camp

    A week long soccer camp with coaches from Great Britain.  This camp will focus on skill development through a variety of fun games, while also education participants of the culture of many soccer loving countries.

    Dates: July 13-17, 2015
    Location: Gilford Village Field
    Half Day: Ages 6-12 from 9:00am-12:00noon  $126.00
    Mini Soccer: Ages 3-5 from 5:00-6:30pm   $94.00

  • Senior Moment-um Program

    Senior Moment-um is an active senior adult program that meets regularly on Mondays. This program is open to residents of Gilford and the surrounding communities


    Please RSVP to the Gilford Parks and Recreation Department by the date specified, by calling the office at 527-4722.   All RSVP’s must go thru the office and not email.!

    March 2 – Pizza Hut Buffet

    Okay – we are going to try this again!!!  Hopefully, no snow this time!  We will meet at Pizza Hut in Laconia at 11:15 AM for lunch.  The buffet is full of salad ingredients, various types of pizza, pasta, and breadsticks.  Each participant is responsible for their own lunch cost, which is $5.00 for the buffet plus drink cost.  Please join us for a “delicious” good time!!!

     

    March 9 – Easy No Bake Chocolate Chip Nut Bars

    Come join us and our special guest “chef” Wendy Tetrault as she walks us through the steps of making this simple, super tasty chocolate treat.  We will meet in the Fellowship Hall at the Gilford Community Church at 11:30 AM.  Bring your lunch and come check out this great snack idea!                   

                   

    March 16 – Breakfast and a Movie

    In honor of St. Patty’s Day, we will be watching “Leap Year” at 9:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall at the Gilford Community Church.  “Leap Year” is a romantic comedy film starring Amy Adams and Matthew Goode.  The film is about a woman who heads to Ireland to ask her boyfriend to accept her wedding proposal on leap day, when tradition supposedly holds that men cannot refuse a woman’s proposal for marriage.   Breakfast will be corned beef hash and eggs.  The breakfast cost will be $2.00 per person, and we will also have coffee and tea available free of charge.  Please RSVP by March 12 and let us know if you will be having breakfast.  Please come and join us for a “wee” bit of fun!

     

    March 18 – GHS Dinner and a Show (Weds.): “All In The Timing    

    Please come join us for dinner followed by the Gilford High School Drama Club’s performance of “All In The Timing,” consisting of 6 short plays.  We will meet in the Gilford High School cafeteria for a 5:00 PM dinner, sponsored and provided by the GHS Interact Club.  Dinner will be followed by the performance.   This event is FREE, but reservations and cancellations are mandatory.  Please RSVP to the Gilford Parks and Recreation Department Office at 527-4722 in order to make your reservation.  Space is limited.  Please note that the doors do not open until 4:45 PM.

      

    March 23 – Let’s Get Physical!!!

    Want to shake off the winter doldrums and get a little exercise?  We will be meeting at the Gilford Community Center (adjacent to the Gilford Community Church) at 10:00 AM for an introduction and tour of their fitness room, lead by Center Director Scott Hodsdon and Mary Flynn.  Many of the pieces of equipment are from a former Curves facility and allow each individual to work out with low impact at his or her own pace and ability.   Future use of the room will be available for those who are interested.  So please come and check out this easy exercise/fitness option.  




     

    March 30 – Oatmeal Rolls  

    Just in time to prepare for your Easter dinner (or any dinner for that matter!).  Per your request at the “chocolate mousse brownie” get-together, our favorite guest chef Grace Herbert will be returning to share with us her recipe for oatmeal rolls.  We will meet in the Fellowship Hall at the Gilford Community Church at 11:00 AM.  Bring your lunch and join us as we learn this new and delicious recipe!

     

    April 6 – Bowling at Funspot

    Today we’re going to hit the lanes for some great bowling fun!  We will meet at the bowling counter at Funspot in the Weirs at 10:30 AM.  You’ll have a choice of candlepin or tenpin.  The cost will be $4.00 per game, which includes free shoe rental.  After bowling, if you’re up for it, you can hang out and try your luck at some of the games or grab a slice of pizza.  So come join us…and have a “BALL”!!

     

    April 13 – Card Making

    Gilford resident Karen Poirier of Karen’s Creations will be coming in

    to give us a demonstration/workshop of her handcrafted cards for any and all occasions.  Each of us will also get to make 2 of our very own cards to take home.  The cost of the program will be $5.00, which includes all supplies and materials and your own two handmade creations.  We will meet at 10:30 AM in the Fellowship Hall at the Gilford Community Church, and the program should last approximately a little over an hour.  Be sure to bring your lunch to eat after the program – exerting all those “creative juices” will surely make you work up an appetite!  Please RSVP by Thursday, April 9 to the Parks and Recreation Department Office so we can plan accordingly for the supplies and materials we will need.

     

    April 20 – Happy Birthday to ………Everyone!!

    Today we will be celebrating everyone’s birthday!  Let’s face it, young or old alike, we all like a PARTY!!!  We will meet at 11:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall at the Gilford Community Church.  Bring your lunch to eat prior to start of the festivities.  If possible, we ask everyone to bring a picture of themselves from their childhood (the younger the better!) to share with the group.  We will also be compiling a master birthday list with everyone’s month and day (no year!).  We’ll have cake and balloons, and even a couple of party games!  Be sure not to miss out on the FUN!!! 

     

    April 22 – Game Day (Wednesday)

    The Interact and Early Act Clubs from all three of our Gilford Schools will be hosting a game afternoon from 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM at the Gilford High School cafeteria.  The afternoon will feature card games, board games, and refreshments.   Please plan to join us for this fun-filled time with this great group of young people!

  • Adult Coed Volleyball

    A fun pick-up volleyball program for adults age 18+ of all abilities.


    Key Information

    • Tuesday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the Gilford Middle School Gym.
    • Program runs from Sept. 30, 2014 - May 19, 2015 (program will not run during certain days that the gym is unavailable - holidays, school functions, town voting, etc.)
    • Cost: $2.00/per day
    • Register at the Gym the first evening you play.
